My 5 Biggest Life Goals

Goals. Who loves to set them? Do you keep to them and work until you’ve reached a specific goal? Or do you set goals and then just kinda let them fall by the wayside, like so many New Years resolutions? I’ve always ben a goal setter. My goals used to be silly things like try out for American Idol or read 100 books in a year. While those are fine goals for some people, as I’ve grown and changed as a person, my goals have grown as well. I love how my thought process of setting goals has changed. There’s a million things that I want to do, but I mainly focus on some of the most important ones to me. Read on to learn more about my top 5 goals for my life.

Become a top branding designer and specialist for businesses in the wedding industry

Designing is one of my true passions in life. I love everything about it. It gives me such a great chance to be creative and to use that creativity to benefit others and their businesses. I started out designing logos for super cheap, I’m talking like $25 a logo, 2 years ago. Since then, I’ve grown that number by a significant amount, and have loved where my design work has taken me. Since I started designing logos, I’ve added in complete branding and Squarespace web design. My current plans include adding in downloadable templates for other businesses in the wedding industry (mainly photographers) and adding in other website platforms to design on.

Run a 6 figure business

Who doesn’t want to run a business that makes a lot of money? This is one of my ultimate goals for my business over the next several years. I’ve put so much blood, sweat, and tears into my business over the last several years, and I’ve watched myself and my business grow. I want to keep growing. I want to know that I have what it takes to make it in this often cutthroat business. I want to be able to support my family and have the means to travel the world and be able to stay at home with my children.

Become a top Utah wedding photographer

Everyone who starts out as a photographer wants to become a top photographer. But the truth of the matter is that some people just don’t have what it takes. They lack the drive or passion or business skills to make it far in their business. That’s just the way the world works. I’ve worked hard over the last few years to get where I am as a photographer, and I want to keep growing till I’m one of the top names in the state. I love shooting couples and telling their stories. I want to do that for as many couples as I can.

Travel to all 59 United States National Parks

Travel has become a huge passion of mine over the last few years since I’ve been married. Growing up, my family circumstances did not allow me to travel hardly at all. I remember taking a couple trips to Disneyland (before the prices cost two months worth of groceries for a family of 4) and a couple trips to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole. Since I’ve gotten married, I’ve started to travel a lot more. Not as much as I would like due to other obligations (looking at you student loans), but its become more and more of a family priority in the last couple years.

The United States is such a gorgeous country. There are so many different landscapes and ecosystems. Its such a diverse place, where you have deserts and mountains and beaches and forests and everything else in between. Nature is such a gift that we’ve been given from a loving Heavenly Father. I want to be able to experience it all. Apart from visiting all the national parks, I want to eventually make my way over to Europe. I want to see the rolling Scottish Highlands to the vineyards of Italy to the beaches of Greece and more. Traveling truly gives you such a different perspective on life, and gives you such a joy that no material object can.

Have a happy family

This may sound like THE most cliche thing in the world. But it is my biggest goal in this life. My family is the most important thing to me, and I don’t want to be so focused on making my business dreams come true that my children feel as if their mother didn’t love them. Running my own business is such a blessing. It allows me to stay home. But sometimes I’ve found myself become so focused on my business that I’ve forgotten my true purpose in life, that of being a mother. I know I can’t take anything with me after I die besides my family, and I want that more than anything. My children need to know that they have a mother who loves them more than anything else, they need someone who will be a confidant and a fierce protector. They need a shoulder to cry on, and someone to tell their hopes and dreams to. They need a playmate. They need someone who will love them unconditionally. My family is my greatest gift, and I don’t want to squander that.

One of my favorite movies is The Greatest Showman. And my favorite song from that movie comes at the very end. After PT Barnum had seemingly lost everything he had worked so hard for in his career, he realizes he may have lost his family as well. After coming to this realization, he sings the song “From Now On”. This has become the theme song of my life and business. “From now on, these eyes will not be blinded by the lights.” What a powerful message. I don’t want to ever get so focused on building an empire that I forget what is truly the most important thing in life. Family is everything and always will be.
